Underwater Photography

Underwater photography has come a long way since I jumped into the water on the Maldives in 2000 with my Sealife Reefmaster CL 35mm camera. That trusty old camera limIted the number of images you could take to either 24 or 36, depending on the film capacity.

It was rare to see divers with cameras back then but the advent of digital compact cameras and housings that could withstand the pressure at depth has seen more and more divers with cameras. Today, divers can take underwater photos with smartphones, compact cameras or high end DSLRs.

Personally, I am constantly trying to find the balance of a good camera with both macro and wide angle options but is also reasonably easy to travel with.
